Operates as a device demonstration and training facility, allowing individuals the opportunity to “test drive” assistive technology prior to purchase or to borrow pieces while theirs are out for repair. Loans up to three pieces of adaptive technology for two months at a time.

Provides older adults with access to a well-planned, coordinated package of in-home and other supportive services designed to support and supplement informal care. NYSOFA's overall goal is to improve access to, and availability of, appropriate and cost-effective non-medical support services for older individuals to maximize their ability to age in their community and avoid higher levels of care and publicly financed care. NYSOFA achieves this through our network of 59 area agencies on aging. This network provides the following core services in coordination with local partners: home delivered meals (HDM), congregate meals, nutrition counseling and education, senior center programming, health promotion and wellness, evidence based interventions (EBIs), volunteer opportunities, respite and caregiver supports, legal services, home modifications, repairs, elder abuse prevention and mitigation, NY Connects, health insurance information, counseling and assistance program (HIICAP), personal care level I and II, case management, ancillary services, such as Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) and assistive devices, social adult day services, transportation to needed medical appointments, community services and activities and long term care ombudsman program.

Provides a 24-hour mental health intake and intervention hotline for anyone who is struggling with a situation, feels overwhelmed with life, feels suicidal, or feels that they cannot cope with daily living, and may need immediate help and transportation to an psychiatric emergency center.

An intensive, medically supervised outpatient rehabilitation program servicing chemically addicted pregnant and parenting women. Additional services include parenting instructions, 12 step program, education and on-site child care. The following treatment services are available: drug and alcohol screening comprehensive psychiatric and biopsychosocial evaluation alcohol and substance abuse counseling and psychoeducation groups individual, group and family therapy parenting, child development, health, life skills, education groups, and workshops GED preparation, vocational assessments, groups, and planning and on-site child care (infants through pre-school age).

Provides a nutritious meal to Islip residents who are 60 years and over at the Senior Citizen Center. Reservations are required. There is a suggested donation per meal.

Offers a course that is designed for personnel in the private and public sector interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour construction safety and health outreach program to their employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is placed upon those topics that are required in the 10- and 30-hour programs, as well as on those that are most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants are briefed on effective instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the Outreach Program and to conduct both a 10- and 30- hour construction safety and health course and to issue cards to participants verifying course completion. SRH offers a diabetes clinic to provide various levels of care.

Offers a variety of support for individuals who are compulsive spenders and incurring debt way beyond their means. This 12-step program helps individuals to find out why they compulsively spend, and then begin to take the necessary steps to begin stopping the compulsion. The support groups can be accessed by traditional sit-down meetings, online groups and via the telephone.
