A comprehensive program designed to provide evaluations and services for eligible children and assist families in meeting their child's special needs. Participation in the Early Intervention Program is voluntary. Services are provided in the child's natural environment, including at home. Services that may be provided in-home include:

A before and after school program for school-aged children located at Westfield Academy & Central School and Ripley Central School. The before school program provides physical and educational activities and encourages a nutritional breakfast provided by the school. The after school program provides quality youth development opportunities such as educational, recreational, and age-appropriate activities and focuses on goal setting, homework support, team-building opportunities, and physical activity. Also offers student-led activities in team building that promote collaboration and provides projects that are developed with and by students, dealing with issues that are important to them and their community.

Special education program available for children ages 5-21 who have been deemed eligible for services by their respective school district’s Committee on Special Education. Program operates self-contained classrooms with available occupational, physical, and speech therapies. Curriculum includes art, physical education, and music. A behavior team, feeding and swallowing team, and counselor are available for students. A 6 week summer program is also offered.

Offers information, referral, and assistance to obtain needed services. Provides counseling and consultation on caregiving issues and long term care planning. Offers support programs such as In Home Respite Care, Personal Emergency Response System, and Adult Day Services.

Provides free in-person and drop-off tax preparation to individuals and families with household income of $67,000 or less. Returns are prepared by IRS certified volunteers.

Program designed to encourage and maintain healthy lifestyles in elderly residents of the Buffalo River Community by providing affordable healthy meals, facilitated physical activity, peer interaction and socialization, and health care navigation and access to support services. Program activities include congregate dining, low-impact aerobics exercise, pinochle, cards, Bingo, art classes compliments of Art Services, Inc., healthy aging education, recreational activities, day trips, and more. Transportation is provided for those in need to and from all the VCA senior programs on Tuesday through Friday.

Provides an all-girl, girl-led Girl Scout Leadership Experience that helps girls discover their personal best, prepare for a positive future, connect with others in an increasingly diverse world, and take action to solve problems and improve their communities. Girls from kindergarten through 12th grade are immersed in fun and educational experiences in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), Outdoors, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship. In-home crisis intervention provided to youth and family for 4-6 weeks, up to 10 hours per week. Works to identify the crisis, defuse the crisis, develop safety plans, and link the family with community services and supports.

Provides up to $50,000 for qualifying emergency repairs to eligible homeowners impacted by the tornadoes and flooding that occurred across New York State in July 2024. Grants will be awarded based on a scope of work approved by local administrators according to program guidelines. Homeowners in affected regions (see Eligibility below) can apply to receive funding to cover the cost of urgent repairs necessary to bring their home into a safe and habitable condition.

Electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase food. Provided to individuals/families who need assistance purchasing food due to limited income.

Provides in home personal care services to Medicaid eligible individuals who have documented medical needs for these services. Caseworkers evaluate and reassess the need for services on a regular schedule. The general population in this program is elderly although the unit also services children and young adults with serious medical conditions. Types of home care available include:

• Personal care programs
• Consumer directed program
• Block nursing
• Personal emergency response system

Provides health care for individuals with and without disabilities in four specific areas: podiatry, audiology, physical therapy and wheelchair clinic.

Mental health mobile outreach team providing assistance in obtaining housing, case management, mental health counseling, psychiatric evaluations, and placement into Shelter Plus Care housing units. Provides services to individuals with both substance abuse and mental health disorders (MICA). Operates supported housing units for homeless individuals with psychiatric disorders.

Collaborates with community agencies and service providers to support families based on their cultural and individual strengths and needs to provide preventive and foster care services. Provides child welfare program, adoption services, preventive services, and foster care resulting from voluntary or court placement. Preventive services are supports and assistance to help a family learn skills (such as coping skills, parenting skills, budgeting skills, anger management, etc.) that will prevent a child from being abused and therefore removed from the home.

Program for young adults 17-21 years old who are trying to make the transition from a residential setting, group home, or foster care to living on their own. Program is designed to let youth practice life skills in a community based apartment setting.
