Provides temporary financial aid to low income individuals and families for daily necessities.

Assists families and individuals who are in need of cash assistance to meet their needs. Eligibility is determined by several factors including income, resources, and willingness to comply with Agency regulations and requirements. Also will assist individuals with "once only" emergency needs if eligible (i.e. prevent an eviction; prevent a utility shut-off; emergency car repair/car insurance to prevent the loss of employment; etc).

Assists eligible individuals in a crisis by issuing one-time, non-recurring payments to meet emergency situations. The unit may assist with security agreements to landlords, extermination fees, moving or storage expenses, and utility arrears payments to avoid shut-offs or to restore service. Financial assistance is made in the form of a loan for utility shut-off, evictions, moving/storage expenses, property repair, rental assistance, mortgage assistance, and foreclosure. A security agreement is provided to landlords instead of a security deposit. Emergency and immediate needs assisted include: - Shelter Arrears - Utility Arrears - Security Agreements - Moving Assistance / Storage Assistance - Water Arrears (only for clients who are in danger of having their water shut off) - Stoves/Fridges/Household Establishments of Furniture (for Households not receiving Temporary Assistance) - Essential Property Repair for Homeowners (pending a health evaluation/inspection to confirm that the issue in need of repair poses a hazard to the residents' health) - Extermination - Grants of Assistance for Guide Dogs - Enhanced Shelter Allowance Determination for Temporary Assistance Recipients - SSI Check Replacement

Provides temporary assistance to low income families who need some assistance till they become financial stable. Services also include financial aid to qualifying individuals and families for food, rent, clothing, shelter, etc. due to a disaster/emergency.

An application for Temporary Assistance is an automatic application for Medical Assistance and SNAP benefits. May be able to assist with rent and mortgage payments, depending on the circumstances. * Provides one-time emergency needs of migrant and seasonal farmworkers who may not be eligible for other emergency services. Services include: Nutritional assistance, emergency shelter, first month rental assistance, rent in arrears assistance, mortgage assistance and utilities in arrears assistance.

Provides assistance to working individuals and families to prevent eviction or foreclosure as well as assistance for homeless individuals and families to obtain permanent housing after all other community resources have been utilized.

The Town of Babylon (Town) is making CDBG-CV funds available for low to moderate income Town of Babylon residents with mortgage arrears incurred due to a COVID-19 related loss of income. The Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP) will administer the program. The aggregate amount of arrears payable under the Program cannot exceed $50,000 per household. No more than six consecutive monthly payments may be made. The first payment will be inclusive of all eligible accrued arrears subject to the cap.
