Working closely with Economic Development and Planning Divisions, the Division of Real Estate is responsible for acquiring, maintaining and disposing of all County real property; providing services related to real property for the executive, administrative and legislative branches of County government; generating revenues for the County; and controlling expenses pertaining to the maintenance of County-owned property. The Division also supports the County’s Affordable Housing programs, Community Development programs and the Suffolk County Landbank. The division is comprised of the following units: Real Property Acquisition and Management; Affordable and Workforce Housing; Auction and Direct Sales and Request For Qualifications. Improves substandard living conditions and revitalizes commercial centers, establishes programs to provide employment training and to prevent and treat problems of the disadvantaged, advises town government on policies for new and improved services, and facilities, and manages and coordinates homesteading and other federal and state housing programs.

Habitat for Humanity helps income-qualified, first-time homebuyers build strength, stability and self-reliance through housing. We build and rehabilitate simple, decent, affordable homes throughout Tompkins and Cortland counties and provide low- or no-interest equivalent mortgages.Accepts applications for homebuyers during specified application periods; call or e-mail for details.Donations of land, vehicles, tools and building materials are accepted.

Habitat Newburgh partners with remarkable families within our service area to provide opportunities to own a home through its homeownership program. Families must have income between 30-60% of the area median income, have the ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and be willing to partner with us through sweat equity and participation in educational classes.

Builds and then sells homes for cost with no-interest loans to qualifying individuals and families.

Builds new homes or purchases old or abandoned homes, renovates them. Future Habitat Homeowners take classes and perform sweat equity while qualifying for a mortgage with a 3rd party lender. Mortgages are 29% of household income. Offers repairs to home owners at modest cost based on income. Offers no interest loan. Also Restore a gently used home goods store with opportunities to donate, volunteer or purchase.

The CDA acquires and rehabilitates blighted homes for use under our "Direct Sale" or "Rent with Option to Buy" Affordable Housing Program. This program serves first time home buyers who meet income guidelines.

Extensive interior or exterior work, including landscaping, performed to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations for eligible homeowners in need.

Builds new homes with low mortgages or does home rehabilitation for working, low-income families. Families helped by Habitat must also volunteer time in helping the organization in one capacity or another.

Provides the opportunity to make home ownership a reality for people who are unable to purchase a home on Long Island without financial assistance. Provides grants (forgiveable after 10 years) to qualified applicants. Non-eligible applicants receive free credit/mortgage counseling.

Offers subsidized housing for families who are low-income. There are 215 units in this community offering a mix of home ownership and low, moderate, and upper income level rental units.

Builds homes, with affordable loan terms, for low income working individuals and families who cannot afford a home at the housing market rates.
