Provides outreach to Veterans identified as at risk of suicide, provides a baseline mental health assessment to potential participants in the program, and provides the following services for eligible participants:
- Coordination of emergency treatment for participants, including coverage of any initial monetary charges for treatment, as long as the participant receives ongoing clinical services through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Case management with a holistic, individualized approach
- Peer support
- Assistance in obtaining VA benefits, including but not limited to vocational and rehabilitation services, employment and training services, educational assistance, housing assistance, and health care (including mental health care) services
- Assistance in obtaining and coordinating with other public benefits for crisis-related needs, including health care services, daily living services, legal services, personal financial planning, credit counseling, and employment and vocational services
- Eligible temporary income support assistance
- Transportation assistance in the form of public transportation tokens
- Childcare payment assistance for children under the age of 13
- General suicide prevention stability assistance, which can assist participants with funds to cover anything that may be contributing to a suicidal factor specific to a participant
- Other suicide prevention services that are necessary for improving mental health such as adaptive sports, equine therapy, indoor or outdoor recreational therapy, substance use reduction programming, and individual, group, or family counseling
