NY Connects - Niagara County Office for the Aging

Offers information and assistance, education, and screening for older adults ages 60 and older, adults and children with disabilities, as well as family members, caregivers, and professionals. Assists clients in making informed choices regarding their long term care needs by offering information on which providers offer needed services nearest to them and helping clients contact these providers. Also serves as the point of contact for the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program, which provides low-income seniors with coupons that can be exchanged for eligible foods (fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs) at farmers' markets, roadside stands, and community supported agriculture (CSA) programs.

Public library. Offers 13 public access computers with Microsoft Office Applications, internet access, and printing (B&W, 10 cents; color, 25 cents). Also offers a scanner, copy machine, fax machine, and meeting room. Serves as a Cooling Center for individuals during times of excessive heat. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling Center is open before going there.

Public library. Offers seasonal Story Times along with other programs to promote reading. Offers crafts, LEGO club, and other special programs for school-age children. Offers computer classes, family & adult events, a main meeting room (capacity 37), and a play room for children age 6 and under accompanied by adults. Offers computers for public use with networked Microsoft Office Applications, printing, internet access, and Wi-Fi. Serves as a Cooling Center for individuals during times of excessive heat. A thrift store which also provides comprehensive job skills training opportunities, employment support services, and educational opportunities for residents for Orleans and Genesee Counties. Thrift store accepts donations of good condition household items, furniture, books, DVDs, CDs, collectibles, current educational materials, craft and hobby items, musical instruments, antiques, small and large appliances, and workplace apparel. Pick up available for donations of large household items and furniture. Employment services include resume and job search assistance, job skills training, and on-the-job work experience. Also offers free access to computers and internet for job searching activities. Educational services include high school equivalency preparation credit recovery. Also provides budgeting assistance, income/expense scheduling, and fax and copy services. Also provides discreet, dignified access to laundry facilities, hygiene products, and life skills support for students in need.

A "one-stop shop" system with access to City of Buffalo services, information, and non-emergency police services. Residents can dial 311 within city limits, 716-851-4890 outside the city, visit the website, or download the BUFF311 App to report service needs, check on the status of previous service requests, or obtain information regarding city programs. A report or request can be sent anonymously through the 311 applications, made via online requests or by calling the office. However, if you choose this option, you will not be able to track the progress online. For this follow-up information, you may contact the Call Center by phone. Your anonymity will always be respected. An information resource connecting families to community resources and child development information. Help Me Grow's focus population is children ages 0-6 years old.Offers the following services:- Centralized access point for information on general child development and parenting topics- Referrals to community resources- Linkage navigation and follow-up to ensure families connect with resources- Developmental questionnaire for children ages 0-72 months (6 years)- Developmental activities for parents to use at home- Partnerships with service providers and child health providersThe Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) are family completed screenings that provide information on how a child is meeting their developmental milestones. Results and activities are shared with families upon completion to show how to support their children's development.
