At the School-Based Health Center, your child can receive the services at no cost to you, regardless of insurance status. The SBHC is allowed to bill insurance, however there are no co-pays for you, and you do not receive a bill. There is no requirement to transfer care from your primary care provider (PCP). School-Based Health Center Services includes: Complete physical examinations; Medications and prescriptions; Medical laboratory tests; Vaccines and Routine Immunizations; Medical care, including treatment for urgent and chronic conditions; Screening for vision, hearing, asthma, obesity, and other medical conditions; Health Education and Counseling and Mental Health Counseling and Services. The Intake Department facilitates access to a short-term Crisis Respite intervention for children and their caregivers due to a child’s behavioral health, developmental, or medical crisis or trauma, including acutely challenging emotional or medical crisis in which the child is unable to manage without intensive assistance and support.

Offers courses in: Universal Welding; Shielded Metal Arc Welding Preparation Course; Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) Fundamentals; Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) Fundamentals; Welding Qualification Course and Ornamental Welding. Offers programs to students ages 11 – 12 in grades 6th – 8th. The Middle School Level Programs include: The Center-Based Functional Academic Skills Program. The Functional Academic Skills Program at Premm Learning Center services students with moderate to severe development disabilities. The primary goal of the program is to maximize each student's potential and to teach skills that will enable them to become as independent as possible within the confines of their disability. Program components include academics with an emphasis on functional skill development, utilizing a modified Common Core Curriculum. Behavior management, independent living and social skills are also addressed. Functional assessments of behavior and behavior intervention plans are implemented for support when needed. The 12:1:4 Program at Premm Learning Center emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to learning. Emphasis is placed on improving cognition, sensory motor skills development and use of adaptive equipment to aid movement and independence. Students placed in the 12:1:4 class component are non-ambulatory and are dependent upon staff for meeting their needs throughout the school day. Classroom instruction is provided with hand over hand assistance. Related services of speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy are provided on a group push-in basis. All students are assessed using the New York State Alternate Assessment. Programs are offered at various locations.

Offers both in-home and out-of-home respite services parents or caregivers of a child who is chronically ill or with disabilities. The program also provides parental support, promotes healthy communication, and helps build positive parent/child relationships.

Food Pantry

Offers Transition Services Program at Brookhaven Learning Center which is an included site program of the Brookhaven Learning Center. The Transition Services Program provides a half or full day, applied academics program, which emphasizes life and employability skills, to students with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. By utilizing a variety of simulated and real-life settings, students are prepared to transition from school to post-secondary outcomes. Included in the Transition Services Program is the Work Activities Center (WAC) for students sixteen to twenty-one, who meet established criteria, to have a volunteer work experience in the community under the direct supervision of a job coach. Serves students ages 14 to 21 in grades 9th - 12th at the Secondary Level. The Brookhaven Learning Center is offered at various locations.

Serves to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing breastfeeding support, information on healthy eating, nutritious foods to supplement diets, and referrals to health care. SCDHS WIC clinics are co-located within Sun River Health Centers & Northwell Family Health Center. Call for detailed information regarding programs and services offered.

Provides comprehensive medical services, nursing, and medical case management for individuals over age 18 diagnosed with AIDS/HIV, also offers confidential HIV testing. The Rockland County Department of Health Early Intervention Program also offers HIV Rapid and confidential testing.

Provides comprehensive educational services for students with multiple disabilities including students with physical and developmental impairments as well as students with autism spectrum disorders, aged 5 to 21. All students are placed in small ratio classes allowing for a true individualized learning experience. Multiple methodologies of teaching are used in conjunction with state-of-the-art technology to provide stimulating educational experiences for all students. Language, academic readiness, social competence and activities of daily living are taught within a structured, aided language classroom environment. Trained staff use visual strategies combined with sensory activities and technology to encourage the growth of communication and interpersonal skills. Learning is enriched through clubs, specialized programs, community involvement, field trips and sports programs. Carman Road utilizes a collaborative team approach including push-in related services enabling staff to provide students with individualized plans to address their needs. Support services are provided by physical and occupational therapists, speech teachers, school psychologists, school social workers as well as nursing staff and a consulting physician. Parents are active participants in their child’s education and participate in ongoing training and support groups enabling them to make connections with one another and share resources.
