Provides assistance to individuals in WNY who have been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Grants could cover any expense associated with the disease that is not covered through another means. Families receiving the assistance will be encouraged to donate all usable equipment and other items after they are no longer needed. Organizations such as the MDA's Loan Closet will make the equipment available to other families in need.

Both online and in-house courses are available which focus on computer skills, customer service skills, telecommunications, and work readiness. Emphasis is placed on computer skills including Microsoft Office, Assistive Technology, and hands on experiential learning. Also provides employment services including resume development, interviewing skills training, career counseling, and job search/placement support. Program is open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm in-house; specific course hours will vary, or be available as online offerings.

Provides a caring community that understands the challenges of living with diabetes. Helps individuals to obtain knowledge, skills, and support to better manage prediabetes and diabetes. Programs include:

• Diabetes Prevention Program: For those with prediabetes or at high risk for type 2 diabetes. A year long program focused on implementing lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
• Diabetes Counseling: For individuals with prediabetes or diabetes. Provides one-on-one visits with a diabetes care and education specialist to discuss individual needs and support.
• Diabetes Self-Management Classes: For any individual with diabetes. Classes focus on the fundamentals of diabetes self-management, covering topics such as understanding diabetes, blood sugar monitoring, nutrition and exercise, acute and chronic complications, and diabetes medications.
• Diabetes Support Group: For any individual with diabetes and those supporting them. Meets once every other month to share struggles, celebrate successes, and discuss topics related to diabetes management.

Active Parenting: For parents of children 5-12 years old. Class consists of three virtual 2-hour sessions. Program addresses how parents can raise responsible, cooperative children who are prepared to meet the challenges of their teen years, resist negative peer pressure, and thrive in the 21st century. Includes explanation on the workings of the developing child/adolescent brain, handling anger, what parents can do to help their child succeed in school, and the importance of contributing to the family via chores. Parents learn positive, non-violent discipline techniques so they can avoid power struggles. Active Parenting of Teens: Class consists of three virtual 2-hour sessions. Equips parents to meet the challenges of their children’s teen years in this complicated day and age.

Provides Cash Assistance for recipients who are not employed to capacity but are able to work. Must enroll in the program to receive work experience, training, and the tools to return to self-sufficiency. Employment Unit can help individuals become job-ready and find a rewarding job to develop their experience, skills, and self-esteem. Job developers also work with local employers.

Life Skills Advocates manage monthly SSI and SSDI benefits for consumers. Program ensures that SSI/SSDI consumers who need assistance with their finances have their basic housing and medical needs managed each month to make certain that they are safe and secure in their housing. After all basic housing and medical needs are paid, any surplus funds are provided to the consumers in weekly Personal Needs Allowance (PNA).
