Represents the city at civic events and private-public occasions throughout the year. Provides leadership and promotes teamwork by assisting the Council in establishing policies and coordinating Council activities.

Educating, empowering and advocating for long-term care residents. The Ombudsman Program is an effective advocate and resource for older adults and persons with disabilities who live in nursing homes, assisted living and other licensed adult care homes. Advocates for residents by investigating and resolving complaints made by or on behalf of residents; promoting the development of resident and family councils; and informing government agencies, providers and the general public about issues and concerns impacting residents of long-term care facilities.

Accepts donations of food, money, gift cards and needs volunteers to assist with the food pantry.

Provides law enforcement services to individuals in Jefferson County. Services include a K-9 Patrol, an Emergency Response Team, School Resource Officers, and a Recreation and Vessel Enforcement Unit.

Oversees volunteer program and youth community service projects in Broome County, coordination of Blood Services volunteers and community presentations on preparedness. Maintains all village roads including paving & repair, snow removal, street sweeping, and signage in the Village of Central Square. Responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the pipes, drains and manholes that constitute the sewage collection system which transports liquid waste to treatment facilities.

Hospicare personnel request items to help raise morale and/or improve patients' qualities of life. Items are returned to Hospicare for use by future patients.

TRAID (Technology Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities) Center shows how technology-from simple homemade gadgets to computer systems-can make people more independent. We have items on display for people to try, we offer demonstrations of equipment, and can tell people how to get what they need. STIC also offers short-term loan of equipment and assistive technology including: wheelchairs, TTYs, walkers, tub seats, commodes, portable ramps, and much more. Some items may be given away if we have an excess.

Babies First program provides at no cost and requiring no financial disclosure: pack n plays, strollers, high chairs, car seats , and other essential baby equipment excluding cribs to families in need and those referred by Tompkins County agencies.First also accepts gently used baby equipment of all kinds except car seats and cribs. Call for an appointment to donate equipment.It is run by volunteers and sponsored by the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca.
