Provides support to fathers who are getting ready to be released from jail,are ex-offenders, or on probation and want to be a better dad and provider to the family. The program identifies each father's challenges and links them to community resources. Participants attend a 12-session workshop where they will learn, practice and strengthen specific parenting skills, communication, conflict resolution, anger management, including financial literacy training, pre-job skills, resume writing, interviewing skills, and employment support to help improve their economic stability.

The Suffolk County Crime Victims Center (CVC) provides vital trauma informed support services, information, and multi-agency service referrals for assistance to child and adult victims of sexual assault and to all victims of violent crime, all victims of hate crime and elderly, minor and disabled victims of property crime. The CVC will also assist you in completion of required documents to secure reimbursement for medical and essential personal property expenses related to the crime. The greatest benefit from prevention and education programs is reaped when Suffolk residents make choices in favor of healthy living. Improving health behaviors is beneficial at every age. Staff works with other agencies to design programming and provide education in Suffolk County communities in an effort to prevent disease, disability and premature death. In particular, we are working to reduce behaviors that lead to the development of co-morbidities such as cancer, diabetes obesity and smoking/vaping. The Workforce Connections Program assists income-eligible individuals who have at least one minor child, in securing and retaining employment through one-on-one case management. This program offers a wide arrange of soft-skills training workshops and family-oriented activities to assist and empower individuals to reach their full potential. Supportive services are tailored to meet individual need, including effective job searching, resume preparation, interview skills, HSE classes, goal setting, and budgeting to name a few.

Summer camps must have a Nassau County Health Department permit to operate legally. An application for a permit to operate a children’s camp must be submitted to Nassau County Health Department at least 90 days before camp operation begins. Nassau County Health Department will review your submission and arrange a preseason inspection of the children’s camp. These permits are issued only if the camp is in compliance with the state’s health regulations. Camp inspection reports are filed with the Department of Health.
