The Residential Repair Program exists for Town of Islip senior residents who are no longer able to perform small repairs in their home. Any materials needed must be supplied by the senior. Labor is supplied by Town of Islip residential repair workers. Although there is no charge for labor, contributions are appreciated and help maintain the program.

Food Pantry

Monitors new building conditions and construction and oversees the maintenance of older multi-family structures. Enforces the state and local building codes and housing standards and ordinances. Reviews applications for permits of new buildings, repairs, alterations, signs, and rooming houses. Accepts complaints from tenants about conditions the landlord fails to resolve.

Works with participating school districts through Greater Southern Tier BOCES to provide classroom speakers, field trips, business site visits, internships, mentoring, mock interviews, architectural awareness, job shadowing, career days, and various school to work initiatives.

Offers a program designed primarily for the individual who currently holds a middle management position in business and who has had little or no college-level education in related subject areas. Provides in-home respite care services for caregivers of frail or disabled seniors. Also offers references to help caregivers, such as pamphlets, books, online resources, etc.

Provides comprehensive services to assist individuals in restoring movement, promoting healing, relieving pain, and adapting to physical changes. Services provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis and include physical, occupational, and recreational therapy, speech language pathology, and rehabilitation counselors.

Functional Vision Training is provided to visually impaired children from birth to five years of age. Training is in the child's home or his/her preschool program. This training helps a visually impaired child function more independently and lays the basis for a more independent adult in the future.
