Child Welfare Unit - CCDSS

Works to prevent children from being placed in Foster Care. Child Welfare Caseworkers assist families in need of service provisions. They provide assessments, referrals, and case management while working with families through the Family Court process. If a child has been placed in foster care, they work with the families to overcome barriers that prevent a child from returning home.

Youth & Family Services - CCA

Offers school-based and family-based approaches to preventing out-of-home placement of at-risk youth in all school districts throughout Cattaraugus County. (Families & Schools Together, Truancy Prevention, Family Group Conferencing, etc.) CPS Contract Cases: A program designed to prevent the need for future CPS involvement by engaging families who are experiencing challenges early, providing support to build family resiliency, and helping families develop neighborhood and community-based supports. Referrals are accepted from CPS county-wide. Home Visiting Program: An in-home parenting program that provides parenting skills and structure in a one-on-one setting. Program addresses safety and risk in the home and works on identifying goals within the family. Parenting Workshop: A seven-week parenting class that uses the Active Parenting model. Parenting skills are taught in classroom/group settings. Supervised Visitation: Arranged and set up such that non-custodial parents have access to their children in a safe environment. Supervised visits are utilized as a safety measure to ensure that children are safe, while also allowing parents to build relationships with their children. Parenting skills and support are provided to both the parents and the children during the visits. New Pathways to Responsible Fatherhood Initiative: The focus of the group is to promote fatherhood and the importance of being a positive male role model for children. The group is open to any male who plays a role in a child's life (Father, Step-Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Friend).

NACS Traditional Preventive - Erie County

A preventative program that provides the appropriate and necessary support to help parents keep their family intact. This is a long term program that assists the parents in identifying any barriers that prevent them from maintaining stability in the family unit and keeping the children safe from abuse and neglect.

Family Assessment Response (FAR) Program - NDYFS

An engaging, alternative approach to providing protection for children by focusing on engaging families in informal and formal support services to meet needs and increase the family's ability to care for their children. Program addresses situations in which families are reported to child protection services for issues such as educational neglect, where the child's safety is not at risk. Provides strength-based in-home services tailored to the family's needs to address the identified problem. Supports the role of families in determining what services will benefit their children. Families work with FAR for approximately 30-90 days.

Family Services Team - ECDSS

Assists parents with children who have behavioral problems. Develops plans to deal with behavior problems and screens for eligibility for immediate family court referrals for PINS (Persons In Need of Supervision) runaways. Other services include information and referral, assessment and case planning, casework services, parenting classes, and preventative services. Program is strictly voluntary.

Preventive Services - Gateway Longview

Serves children/youth at-risk for out-of-home placement due to educational, community or home-based concerns. Also serves children/youth who are currently in out-of-home placement whose discharge could be accelerated if preventive services were in place. Primary Goal is to safely maintain children in their own homes whenever possible and to greatly enhance the prospect of that permanence.
